I believe so. I still wouldn't recommend them. Cheap price, or not. The Maxells I tried gave me one second freezes on the films I backed up.

Were they actual Maxells, or the non branded junk that some places on the net have been selling as Maxells? Those are who knows what with stolen IDs (quite legal to do in Taiwan). I notice that the internet vendors who were selling those disks just a few weeks ago now say they are NOT real Maxells. The ones I have are branded 2X and work flawlessly. I'm using a Pioneer A05 with 1.30 firmware. That burner is rather picky on media but these work great! The fake Maxells have so little dye in them they are virtually transparent. The real Maxells are a deep purple and can't be seen through.

I was buying the Verbatim 2X for $3.80 up to a couple weeks ago from Staples, so fairly good deals can be had if you look. I'm trying to find local sources for 4X now.

Have to go get another 10 of those Maxells. Out again...

Riteks are still cheaper at Rima or Shop4tech.spindle for $130-$135 u.s.
That's where i get mine and will continue to,until Canadian retailers are competetive.

    Wow, that is expensive.

Give www.amicoimaging.com a try. 50 DVDs for $95.00 CDN, that is only $1.90

I have to agree, I tried some Maxell DVD-R, all turned out to be coaster material.

Picked up the 50 spindle "Unbranded" from Amico Imaging (Toronto) and so far they are 8 for 8 successfully authored.

They were 50 for $83.00 and the DVD style black cases were $0.35

That gave me 50 1x DVD-R in black DVD size cases for $100.50 plus shipping $8.00 in Canada plus taxes.
