  1. I have a DVR-105, and a DVD-ROM
I installed the DVR-105 as master on secondary IDE and the DVD-ROM as slave on the secondary IDE.

I put a dvd5(one layer, no protection) on the DVD-ROM, I put a blank DVD-R on the DVR-105 --> Ask Nero to copy Disc-to-Disc --> Nero doesn't like it, it complaining that 2 drives on the same IDE ... I ignore this message. and Click next. Nero then keep asking me to insert a blank disc to the DVR-105, i did, i did... and it keeps asking

    What is wrong?
    Thanks

First of all forget using NERO and forget trying to copy from a DVD-ROM to a DVD-R drive. It ain't gonna happen.

The best thing (especially with single layer DVD discs) is to first RIP the DVD to your HDD using DVD Decrypter in ISO --> READ mode. Then BURN the ISO to your blank DVD-R disc using DVD Decrypter in ISO --> WRITE mode.

The ripping process should take no more than approximately 15 minutes. A 1x burn takes 60 minutes ... a 2x burn takes 30 minutes and a 4x burn takes 15 minutes.

  3. I also bought a Pioneer a05, not tried to copy from dvd - dvd though but did experience the same problem with Nero. Never had any joy using Nero. I would suggest you try using Roxio Stomp RecordNowMax though as it picks up the A05 drive no problem (Had probs using Instant DVD, Nero & Prassi Primo) other programs don't seem to have an update to accomodate the A05.
As suggested I would forget trying to go disc -disc and Rip the movie to your hdd first.

  4. So, no one here have done disc-to-disc copy yet. Common, some one must know the answer.
what do I have to do to set it up so that I can do a disc-to-disc copy?

    Thanks

  5. If you really want to disc to disc on the fly (which I do not reccomend), do the following:

Make sure that the DVD-R and the DVD-ROM are not daisy chained on the same IDE channel. To do this, set the DVD-ROM drive as the the primaty slave on your computer and your DVD-R as the secondary master on your PC.

If you don't know how to do the above, do yourself a favor and just rip and burn.

  6. They already told you the answer. Rip iso to hard drive then write iso from hard drive to dvd-r.
The time you've wasted here you could have copied multiple dvd's by now.
Copying on the fly is asking for trouble.

  7. A4,

I don't like to repeat what others have already pointed out, but hooking up the DVD-writer and DVD-Rom drive on the same IDE bus makes it virtually impossible to do a "on the fly" copy. I need to understand that when the drives send commands and data over the IDE bus the other devices on the same bus are in a waiting state (Tri-state).

So basically all the info would have to be buffered in the memory through DMA channels.

Now I have never done Disk to disk either and quiet frankly other than the speed advantage I do not see why I would ever take the risk and produce coasters.

Ripping the DVD to HD does not take that much more time, but makes it if you got good media a 100% success.
