  1. Hello,

I ripped a dvd. I separately ripped the audio, video and subtitels. I tried to create an image from this and it worked, but the file was too long for an DVD. So i was told to compress the videofile (it is an .m2v instead of .mpg...) with tmpegenc 2.5XX. But this software does not accept the .m2v extension. Does anybody know how to convert an m2v file to a smiler size? I even want to buy software, but i really don't know what to buy...

    Thans in advance.

Why not take that image you made and open it with instantcopy or another dvd 9 to dvd 5 program. It should compress the whole thing for you.

GB. You can use the multiplex function (MPG Tools) of TMPGEnc to recombine the video and audio into an mpg file and then recompress.

  5. Thank you for your answers. The image i made is not accepted by instant copy as a acceptable image, i don't know why. The benefit of the way i trie to copy a dvd (smartripper-ifoedit-imgtools-dvd decrypter) is that i can only copy the complete film with the subtitle and audio i want. So the loss of quality is minimalized. When i rip a compete film and compress it with instant copy, it copy's the menu's and trailers e.d also wich means loss of quality.

If you can tell me how i can make instant copy accept the image i made with IMG Tools_089, the problem is alos solved. Does anybody recognise this problem?

m2v is mpeg 2 - video. To enable TMPGEnc to accept mpeg2 as input, you can install PowerDVD (trial version will do). Now, TMPGEnc will use the mpeg2 decoder that PowerDVD installs. It will be left in your system even after uninstalling PowerDVD.
