I have a Pioneer DVD-115 player in this computer which is running windows xp. A buddy of mine made some dvd-r's for me. The first time I tried one on it; it worked fine. It played the menu, videos, and everything. Now, whenever I try one, it always says disc cannot be read or windows cannot read format. In powerdvd it says "no disk in drive f:" Is there something I can install that can get them running again? Any info would be helpful.

i have the same dvd-rom in my PC. Have no problems.
The only thing i can say is,
1) Make sure the media is finalised so no more data can be writen to the disk.
2) Was the first disk, Different brand or make to the ones you have now? Try and use Ritek disks as much as possible.
Apart from that i cant see why it does not play.http://dvd.coldpie.com - where you can download versions of DVD2DVDR. -
No, they are all finalized and are all the same brand dvd-r. The first time I played 1 of the 4 discs it worked fine. Then I was going to play the other later and it refuses to play. All normal dvds you get at the store play fine. Just not the dvd-r's anymore.

wayned16,
I just tried it again and it worked. I must just have to fuss with it a while and it will work. I hit the play button like 20 times really quick and it started up. -
so obviously the 115 doesn't like that type of media....i would try some other media to see if it works first time.

Hi,
I had the same problem with my pioneer player (other model tough). I think you will solve your problem by copieing the dvd in another way. Try using UDF in nero or write the DVD as DVD-Video in Nero, this solved the problem for me.
I also noticed with some of my friends that their DVD player had problems reading disc copied with DVDXCopy (nero buring engine). Pinacle IC 7, is alot bether in this way. -
These were recorded on TDK 2x DVD-r. They were also recorded using one of those set top dvd recorders for the television.

hmmm, it sometimes likes the disc and sometimes doesn't. Certain times I can put one in after the other and it will pick it up and start playing it and others it keeps saying no media in drive F:
