  1. Just currious what is the opinion of these two codecs here ? I've been using Huffyuv for capturing avi at 640x480 using VirtualVCR but I'm hearing good things about MJPEG...

Can someone please tell me what are pros of one over the other (other ten price as Huffyuv is free), ie: which produces the better quality, smaller file size, less frame drops, etc.

    Thanks

  2. I'm not sure about the quality aspect because I've never used Huffy. The thing about MJPEG is the capture file sizes are smaller, even on the highest setting.

The HuffyUv is a "Lossless" codec , ie it doesn`t lose digital info during compression , whereas MJpeg does . BUT I`ve used (and still do) MJpeg at 17/18 and it still gives great quality . BTW capping at a Q of 20 in MJpeg is about the same as HuffyUV in terms of compression but your losing bits of info - so use HuffyUV if you cap at 20 in MJPeg .
