  1. From what I have been reading the DV/Firewire type capture cards are the best for PQ. I am wanting to capture from satellite and would need some type of scheduling software. I have already asked this about the Canopus, but was wondering about any of the other brands (i.e Datavideo).

Are there any scheduling software that works with these?

  2. I just found out that the Scenalyzer will work for scheduling. So now the question is how does the Datavideo DAC100 compare to the Canopus ADVC100?

The DAC costs less from recent reports! Otherwise, no sigificant differences.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  4. I dont know if any dv style card can capture from satellite, for that you will need an tv tuner card, and remember tv tuner made by any company are analog and unable to go above channel 181. I use ati aiw 7500 hooked up to dishnetwork receiver. Ati bundles mmc 8.5 with it, this can capture in dvd format(mpeg2), and it also comes with schedular which can record on predetermined time set by you, it even works if your tv application is closed, it wakes the application up, records and shut down. you can directly burn it onto dvd. The only problem it can not change the channels, I am working on it and hopefully will find an solution. This card can capture from any source except IEEE 1394, if you need that link you go with ati aiw 8500 dv. Hope this helps.
