Ok, have an mpeg in Pal, run SVCD2DVDMPG, no prob, MPG->ES as I'll be using DVDMaestro, authoring, compiling and repatching header back to 480 goes well as does burning.
My question is, will the majority of NTSC players be able to run this PAL mpeg after all is said and done?? I know my Apex plays em fine, my friends Toshiba....says PAL format error or some shit like that. (Lemme know if I start rambling
So........dillema, or can I convert PAL mpeg to NTSC or maybe patch it? Something simple like that which I don't know about. I'll add that I hope I'm in the right place here

    Thanks,

i use ulead dvd moviefactory 2 to convert PAL SVCD to NTSC because my sony dvd dvp-ns3225 player shows PAL SVCD with a big block of green at the top and bottom of the screen that is very distracting.

  3. there are 2 things you need to check.
    1. can you dvd-player play PAL
    2. can you tv show a PAL signal from the dvd-player or will the dvd-player "convert" the PAL ot a NTSC signal.

My Pioneer DVD player converts PAL SVCD's on-the-fly to NTSC output. They look great.

HOWEVER, it does NOT like DVD-SVCD's in PAL, unless I do some serious header trickery.

I'll try to figure out what happens to the headers, and maybe CB can eventually integrate it into the program (when he has all that free time he keeps going on about LOL).

Well that's actually not so bad. TMPGEnc ought to do a cutdown in substantially less time than it takes to do a size-up.

    But it's still a 2-hour affair.

    Dude! No no no!

    On my Athlon XP 1800+...

IsoBuster rips the .bin files in about 2 minutes each, maybe less depending on what else I'm doing.

TMPGEnc downsizes in... roughly half the movie time. So for a two hour movie it's an hour-ish. There are other programs that are faster, but much more problematic to use.

And then SVCD2DVDMPG+ takes about an hour to set up the disc, and that's WITH the Pioneer fix.
