  1. Hello to everyone!
Over the last three weeks, I have gone through each section of the index, and have gathered tons of information. I figured this would be the wise thing to do rather than just impulsively posting a 'dumb noob question'.
I have gone through serveral hundereds of posts, acqruiring as much information as possible to help me understand the art of encoding. Needless to say, I have gained a SIGNIFICANT amount of knowlege from the users of this forum. For that, I thank you all.
Since I am a noobie, I still have some questions.
Right now, I am getting practice converting divx files to svcd standard mpeg files. Primarily XVID files, so that I can play them on my standalone dvd player.
For the most part, my encodes have been quite successful. Except for the occassional occurance of slight pixelation. With that said, I would like to get advice from you guys on ways to improve my encodes.
I am currently using the following settings:
Mastering quality, cbr 2pass, spliting file by size(790 megs). I've tried to use vbr, but I cannot use 2pass(When I try to, I get the messsage, 'cannot use multipass while file splitting), and I cannot adjust the max bitrate past 2520.
I would like to get advice from you guys about good settings for encoding xvid to svcd at the best quality.
If anyone can share thier Procoder experiences with me, I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks again!

P.S. system specs: P4 2.4 Ghz, 512 ram, Nero used for burning @ 4x speed. Nothing else running while encoding/burning.

What settings do you guys advise me to use with Procoder for the best SVCD results?

  2. Crap!
I just realized that this post should have probably been placed in Newbie Conversion.
    Sorry!
