  1. Hey guys, i posted a topic a while back about buying a dvd writer, with the computer i have, and thanks to the guys who gave me some good advice, i am gonna invest in a new computer.

However i am more interested in getting a laptop.
I was thinking of getting an external dvd writer too, something like a Sony DRX-500.
I would be using the computer mostly for internet, and normal computer stuff!! but with the dvd writer, i would be backing up dvd's, re-encoding s/vcd's to dvd and things like that.

so can anyone give me any advice or point me in the right direction to what the ideal specs are required, i.e what kinda processor should i go for and memory and things?

All help and any advice is greatly appreciated

    thanks

Specs? If your doing video on it then as fast as you can get.
I'd suggest at least a 1ghz Laptop with at least 512ram, and one of the new 5200rpm laptop hard drives. Some laptops have an option for a Pioneer DVD burner, but if you want an external I'd suggest either the Pioneer, the sony dual burner, or wait on the Pioneer A06 which if it keeps with Pioneers quality should please everyone.
