Whenever I try to capture (with every avail. program) from a DAC 100, my Win2K goes Blue (Unhandled exception in NTOSKrnl.exe).
Capturing with the same setup from a HW Bridge works.
And capturing with Xwin XP works too.
    Any ideas, what's going wrong?
I Tried several Dip switch combinations, none of the worked.I un/reinstalled the 1394 drivers- no joy.

Sounds like one or two of the following...
    1) You have a conflict @ the hardware level involving the IEEE1394 driver for MS DV AVI
    Or

    2) You have a software conflict with initializing the capture device. Some Dll or other system level file...

    Or
    3) Your FW card is not compatable with the DAC 100. (unlikely, but always possible).

Get all the software updates you can lay your hands on then update the the drivers first... You could go round and round on this all day... I know this stinks, but My suggestion when you get a BSD (Blue Screen of Death) is reload the OS with just the app you want to use to capture and minimal drivers, connect the DAC and run a test. NTOsKern errors usually com from device (hardware) IO conflicts... If you BSD then you have something hardware level related.. I'd try to change the FW card first... Of course you should disable everything you can during your first test to eliminate hardware conflicts.. I've been where your @, hang in there... good luck!

I found the solution this way (and your guess was quite right)
I installed a fresh Win2K with just the Video driver and DirectX and the DAC 100 worked. After that, I pulled my SB 5.1 Live! out and the DAC 100 works under my old Win2k Installation.I presume, that there was a driver conflict between the Creative WDM drivers and the 1394 drivers. Looks like under XP the can better team up.

Great to hear you figured it out that quickly! C-labs configs sometimes get hokey when it comes to hardware addressing... Very often it turns out to be a direct X related issue... There is a whole lotta windows VooDoo going on

I bet if you where to go XP with all the cards installed you'd be ok.... Anyway, Glad to hear it's working for you now.
