  1. Hi,

I need software to make VCDs from my digital stills and movies.

Which is better and why out of Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video 4 and Ulead's DVD Picture Show 2

    Thanks

The learning curve is longer with Vegas, more dollars also.

As for as Pictures go, I personally prefer Pic2tv over pictureshow for the following 2 reasons. Cropping of images and autosync with the music. Great features pictureshow does not have.

I own Vegas and Movie factory. I prefer movie factory because it is an easier application, can't do as much, but unless you are a real professional, you won't use 1/2 or 1/4 of it's features, not to mention the $ you will save.

You can do a hell of alot more wtih Vegas, i.e fades, transitions, titles, etc. Also, I think the quality of the stills is superior, especially if you encode with TMPEnc

  4. The feature-set of Ulead DVD PictureShow 2 is fairly well documented here:

Also - there is a new Version 2 patch:

  5. It seems the opposite for me - Ulead DVD Picture Show 2 gives me higher res still pics when I burn to VCD as compared with Vegas Video 4! I was using all default options. Perhaps there was an option I didnt change?
