i got a dvd-rw movie off a friend and it doesn't play on my pc's dvd-rom but it works on my standalone dvd player. what do i need to do to get it to work......... PLEASE HELP

More than likely your PC drive cannot read the RW disc. It probably works fine with commercially made or -R +R discs, yes?
Long story short, you'll need to get a newer DVD-ROM drive that is compatible with RW. -
Couldn't an updated driver for the drive help? I'd check the manufactures web site for an updated driver...
