How can I tell if my computer will burn a dvd or not. I have a burner and I have used it plenty of times, but I just ripped a dvd and I want to know if my computer can burn a dvd-r before I try. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Is your burner a -R burner, or a +R burner, or a dual format burner? If it's a +R burner, then no, you can't burn a -R. If it's a -R or dual format, then yes, you can.
If you're asking "will the rip I'm trying to burn work once I burn it?", well, that's a totally different question. That would depend on the tools and method you used to rip and prepare it for burning.

By simply looking at the cover of your burner -- it should say DVD R/RW or CD R/RW -- or just simply put a DVDR - or + and go for it... just don't spend 100 bucks on buying bulk media until you know for sure if you can...
