New princo 4x

i tried some new ones recently, looks like that pic but says video/data.
one word... AWFUL, simply awful. Disc burns, but totally unreadable on anything.

All crap? I suggest you clean your burner lens... Won't read on anything? Sounds more like an issue with your burning program.

Anyway, I got the Princo 4x discs, and the old after-3.9GB write errors don't exist. I've burned most of them at 2x on the 103, but the 105 4x burns have ALL burned perfectly. I've not gotten a single coaster on the 4x Princo discs I bought from RIMA.

I'm almost out. I'll be buying more of them soon. No errors. Has Princo changed it's ways? Maybe.

I still use APPLE when data quality and master video is important, but for general backups and general use, these Princos performed VERY WELL.

no all crap as in the spindle of 25 that i had. I know that it works for other people, im just sharing my experience. I can burn riteks g04's no probs besides the stupid 2x bug (burner or media? i dont know). Burner is only about 4 months old, has not done enough to get 'dirty' lens just yet. And no its not an issue with the burning program, like i said same procedure, teh riteks worked.

I have been thinking of giving these Princo 4x disc a try seeing as I can get 100 for $119. Way back I tried some 2x Princo and they worked well for me on my Sony DRU500A (stupid thing died on me two months ago).

It's widely known that optical electronics OFTEN arrive dirty when purchased. Ask any professional digital photographer or videographer, and any smart one will tell you the first thing they do is get it inspected/cleaned. Laser lens are not much different. And computer aprts are the worst electronics, as they are often mistreated and stored in less-than-perfect conditions prior to purchase.

Don't worry about it, you don't seem to be the only one with issues using Princo's 4x media. Just read the DVD media section. Roughly 1/2 the people there report issues while using them.

Ok, so why are other brands writing ok but the princo's arent? If what you were saying was true, it shouldnt write to any media across the board right? And how does one go about cleaning the lens (even though i highly doubt thats the problem?) Also, could you post the media code from the discs you have had success with? I suspect they arent not the same discs...
