Is there an easy way to extract video from DVD to put together a greatest hits sampler? For example, I own the Monty Python TV series box set. I would love to make a DVD of my favorite skits. The long way would be to extract the video using DVDBackup, compressing with DTOX, creating a new DVD then copying the wanted clips to tape, then back in thru iMovie and finally export to iDVD and burn. Gotta be a faster way!

Rip the DVD files, convert them to DVD format MPEG, edit them, burn them back to DVD.

More precisely, use 0Sex to rip by chapter, combining the chapters you want and excluding the ones you don't. Of course, you're SOL if your episodes arent chapterized (for example, 1 episode = 1 chapter).
Once you have your episode clips ripped, demux the streams with bbDEMUX (you can also rip to elementary streams in 0Sex, but that might cause sync issues).
Re-combine them in DVD Studio Pro. Author.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I only own iDVD and not DVD Studio Pro. Is there a workaround?

This is something I have been trying to do also. My thought was to rip the DVD to harddrive, use DIVA to convert to .mov, use QT Pro to convert to .dv, import into iMovie, ...you know the rest.
I have not tried this yet because it is going to take a TON of diskspace and I need to clear a few projects off my harddrive first.
Does anyone know of a less complicated path to accomplish this? I figure by next weekend I will have cleared enough space to give this a try.
I just noticed another thread that is similar to this one...

I thought of another way to do this this morning.
Osex to elementary steams(.m2v & .ac3)
QT Pro w/mpeg2 Playback (.m2v -> .dv)
(haven't figured out the audio part yet) (.ac3 -> ???)
import into iMovie2
1 less step (Diva) and less harddrive space
