  1. Ok here is the deal. I rip the audio from the video using virtualdub...then I use the guide on this site for tmpgenc to vcd....now when I do that no matter what I lose some space. I do a lot of video that has subtitles and sometimes it cuts off half of the subtitle or puts it on the bottom of the screen so it is very annoying. Can somebody please tell me if there is another way for me to do this so I wouldnt lose the space....I really just want to shrink the size of the video so that it will show on the tv screen just right....just let me know what I need to do.

    Thank you.

  2. I'm not sure what you mean by losing space, can you upload a picture so that we can see ? if it's a wide screen / full screen issue, please clarify

  3. Its for full screen...I can't send a screen shot because it only shows up that way when it is on the tv. On the computer it shows up just fine. Everything fits and looks good....I can even send it out to my tv screen from the computer and it looks perfect full screen, but when I do it on my stand-alone dvd player it doesn't show up right on the tv. I also use Nero if that makes any difference.

TVs overscan images so you end up loosing a bit from the top, bottom, and both sides.

Download TMPGEnc and select Center (Keep Aspect Ratio) in the advanced settings area and let it encode your source file into mpg. The center setting should create a black border around the sides of your mpg that should match up with the overscan on your TV. I think you could also use the resize filter in VirtualDub to accomplish the same thing as there is an option in there to specify a border around your file. I'm not sure what the measurments of the bourder should be though to fit perfectly on your TV with VirtualDub as TMPGEnc does it for me.
