  1. I have try to find any post about this .. why does nobody use the WMP9 video and audio codec to transfer a dual layer to a single layer dvd instead of divx etc ? Many people are going crazy with the release of T2 in HDTV with this codec .. if and HDTV movie fits on a 9.4 gigs dvd (shoudl be normaly aroun 18 to 20 gig) .. with very high quality .. I bet a regular movie would fit easily on a 4.7 dvd-r ??

    Thanks

    It's not released in HDTV.

DVD isn't HDTV enabled. All you get is 720x480 with DTS audio. It was re-mastered in HDTV.....so it can be shown in HDTV on Showtime/HBO or the networks that do HDTV broadcasts. I mean if you go to all the trouble to digitally re-master, why not got HDTV and be done?

As to the WME9 codecs.....it's about the same quality as a 2-pass DivX/XviD. You have less options when you encode, and NEVER EVER use the M$ defaults (by default everything is overcompressed, under-bitrated). Its crap unless you shoot for a 2 CD size WMV file for T2 for full resolution.

  3. For T2 .. I really think that the box have 2 dcd .. one regular mpeg2 and the other one is a WMP9 version of the 1080p HD master.
