    Hello to all, i have done some movie stuff before but have never tried ripping DVD's was wondering if someone could help me out, im using Sefys Guide but when i use CLAD DVD i get the following message can someone please help me

    (DVD-ROM still has locked sector!)
    (YOU MUST MANUALLY AUTHENTICATE THE DVD MOVIE)

    I have tried with a few DVD's and still get the same message anyone any ideas.

    Also i would like some feedback on the quickest way to rip DVD's im told it can take anything from 10 to 20 hours,
    I want the movies to be reasonable quailty but damn they dont have to be perfect, also is there any software out there, that u can start, go to work, and it will be all done for ya coming home, all ya would need to do is burn to cd..... I want these to play in DVD players, if possible

    please help im sure there is someone who knows my problem

  2. 1) You have to authenicate the DVD prior to ripping it. Just play a few secs w/ your software DVD player, then rip it.

    2) Quickest? Well it really depends on your CPU system. I had a K62-500, it took me 18hrs to encode a 90min movie to VCD. Now I have a Tbird 1.2Ghz and using CCE can encode an avi (no resize) at 0.6x the source run time. For DVD rips, I get 1~1.35x the source runtime, but then I use 3pass VBR which ups the time to 4~5.4x the source runtime.

    3) I would recommend DVD2SVCD, you can find the newest software bundle at http://dvd2svcd.doom9.net however the guide to use the program is at http://www.doom9.org under the guides. You can also find a link to d/load the demo of CCE 2.5 SP. The demo will place a watermark/logo in the bottom right of your encoded MPEG file but I hear that there's a crack to remove this

    DVD2SVCD is a front end loader that runs:
    vStrip -> DVD2AVI -> Azid -> tooLame -> CCE -> pulldown -> bbMPEG -> VCDImager

    so just put in your DVD, choose settings, hit run, and you'd get an image/s to burn. However, I turn off make images and then use TSCV (www.ttool.org) to add chapters (and/or menus).

    A good way is to load your software DVD proggy, and then go to a menu screen with a still screen (e.g., audio selection menu). Or, start playing a trailer and press "pause".

    I find that the authentication in SmartRipper works quite well. You could try to use SmartRipper instead. Or, if you want to keep using CladDVD, you could just load Smartripper (so that the DVD is authenticated) and then load CladDVD.

    Regards.
