im wondering if this reselution is compatible with Mpeg 2 [352*240]. look its cause i hate this resolution but i have an avi with the size of about 700 megs and well i dont wanna use 2 cds using 352*480 so then i tried this mpeg 2 352*240 and i tried it on my apex burning it as a non standard svcd with 48000 khz and well my apex played it. ok and it might not play on many standalones, but i was wondering if when i get my dvd burner will it take that resolution and still burn the movie and then can it be compatible on most DVD players?

  4. Cecilio,

I know you don't want to hear this, but to answer your question about whether it will play on a DVD player....The answer is maybe.

But the good news is, if you are later going to burn it on a DVD, why not keep an archive copy around with the higher resolution? You can back it up on as many CDs as you need and then put them back together when you get your DVD burner.

I've got a whole stack of VCDs and SVCDs from the time before I purchased my DVD burner. I wish I had saved a backup in 720x480, CDs are cheap and it would have saved having to rip them and reencode when I get bored enough to move them to DVD.
Just what is this reality thing anyway?

Apex will play dam near anything. The question is how does it look on your TV? I have some 352x240 MPEG2's that look pretty dam good (VHS quality) and are 90+ minutes/CDR. Good for my kids, they don't notice the difference on the 19" TV.

Actually it looked pretty good, this was also a 90 minute movie and well i made a VHS Rip of Friday The 13th a jason movie the very first one and well then made it on one cd-r and it worked pretty good it looked exactly the same. so thats why i didnt wanna use 2 cds plus since i made my VHS rip to Divx 5.05 the quality was very good and then the quality remained the same when i finished the encoding to mpeg 2 vcd.
