I had been using DVD X Copy for a couple of months now without a problem. 2 weeks ago, I downloaded & installed Nero's trial version and it expired yesterday. Last night, I noticed now that DVD X Copy can't find my burner as the target drive. The drop-down menu that I am supposed to select my burner with is blank & the burning options in the lower-left corner (Default burner or Nero) are grayed out with neither selected. How can I point DVD X Copy back to my burner?
I have tried START - PROGRAMS - DVD X Copy - CONFIGURE - INSTALL DRIVER FILES, but I immediately get a window that says that my computer needs to be restarted to "complete the installation." After restarting, the same window appears & the cycle just keeps going (and going). No recognition of my burner though ... what should I do differently? Thank You!!

  2. I suggest
    - uninstall both Nero and DVDx Copy
    - then restart windows
    - reinstall DVDx Copy.
    It might work.
    Good luck

    Thanks gotodvdr -
Warning! I'm about to really reveal how LITTLE I know:
I did just what you suggested last night. Before re-installing DVD X Copy though, I noticed that the DVD X Copy folder inside my Program Files folder was still there (after I uninstalled the program from CONTROL PANEL - ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS). Shouldn't that folder have been gone? Do I need to manually remove this folder, before re-installing DVD X Copy? I am sure that these sound like very basic (and probably stupid) questions, but I would love to get this program working again. THANK YOU AGAIN!

  4. You could manually remove that folder away. Dosen't matter. I'll recreate when you reinstall.

I did everything & still can't get DVD X Copy to recognize my DVD burner. I have read a lot about this program having trouble with incomplete uninstalls & target drives that can't be found. One thing I still can't find is the solution though. I still have exactly the same problem mentioned above. Has anyone experienced this and found their way around it? Please? THANK YOU!

  6. In the advance tap of DVDx Copy, you should not choose Nero as your option to burn dvdr.
    It might help.

Thanks louthewiz. Last night, I opted to go through the control panel, restore my computer to its previous settings, reinstalled DVD X Copy, and now have it working again. Since I had it working previously, I believe that my problem was caused by downloading, installing, and running Nero's trial version, then letting it expire and consequently having to remove it from my computer. Everything was good before Nero & with Nero, but the problems started after the trial version expired. The problem is fixed though ... thanks!
