Highest Quality in Tmpgenc goes slower than a council worker on bank holiday overtime. Would it make much of a difference in speed and quality if High Quality was used instead...?
Anybody have an idea?
Cheers

There are about the same. Little loss if you use High not highest quality.
I also use a lot motion estimate search, there are times this is better high quality, but it depends the nature of the source (if the source is mpeg 2 for example, motion estimate search is like high quality. With avi depends: Huffyuv no, PicVideo maybe...) -
Thx Satstorm. If I only ever convert from DVD (i.e VOB files) then what setting would u suggest....?

motion estimate search
But that is okey in my eyes, in yours (or others) maybe there is a difference by using highest quality.... -
I always use high quality, never highest. I cant see any difference in the final output and highest quality takes about double the time of high quality.

Jimmy:
Why not make a short clip with some critical action (your definition) and process at both settings? That way you can judge for yourself whether the difference matters for your purposes. The difference between high and very high is small but noticeable, in my view. I always go with highest unless I am really crunched for time.
Happy converting,
