i just encoded a 90 min, 41 sec AVI to vcd (non-standard) at 1020 video bitrate, and 192 audio bitrate.
the file came out to be 796mb
i used nero to burn to vcd, but it exceeds the line at the bottom. (it goes red). then i try to burn it, but nero says i need a cd-r with more space.
what else is a good program to burn vcds?
*oops, this should go to the (S)VCD authoring form, right...?*

Hello
That file size should fit on an 80 minute 700MB CD-R when you burn it as a non-standard VCD disc. Are you sure you are burning it as a VCD (with non-standard check marked) or are you simply trying to copy the mpeg file to the CD-R in the original form (as an mpeg file)?

Deh,
In Nero, try going to File>Preferences>Expert, and check "Allow Overburn", although you shouldn't have to, as 796 meg is not too big for a VCD. DVD2SVCD makes files about 825 meg for me, and Nero burns the disks. -
I think you have the 'create standard vcd' checked in nero. Uncheck that... At 796 mpb nero should not be telling you it's too big unless you have the 'create std vcd' checked (this will make nero re-encode it at 1150kps which you do not want it to do)..

I've got the same issue and tried to uncheck the standard vcd box, still doesn't work.

dbecker,
I think Nero says noncompliant, and has "ignore" which you can check, and burn noncompliant VCD. I don't know if I have one to test that on, or if I want to take the time. If the machine will read a "noncompliant", by all means, check "ignore" and burn. -
I had the same problem and someone here helped me, try this, open tmpgenc and open mpeg tools, select multiplex open the file then choose the type you want in this case vcd non standard, choose an output and start, try it again with nero and i am betting it will work this time.

Deh,
What are you encoding with? It might help to know.

P.S.
I don't know if this is your problem as I never accidentally multiplexed a non-standard VCD as a standard VCD but making that mistake can lead to all kinds of strange things happening."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci

i used tmpgenc to encode, and i did check "MPEG-1 Video-CD (Non-standard"
that's why i got a 796mb file that is 90 min. -
thanks fulcilives and gmatov i'll try to contribute more and help answer some questions, i only started ripping capturing and encoding a short while ago so i am still new, but i learnt a lot from this site so i should help out
.
I am not sure what else you can do Deh try multiplexing anyways it doesn't take long.
