svcd to dvd

i currently have a film on 3 svcd and wish to burn it to 1 dvdr
i currently use the follwoing method
i join them by using tmpeg enc then dvd2avi then tmpeg to dvd template then tmpeg dvd which in total takes around 3 hours to convert.

I have been told by a friend that one of his friends does svcd to dvd in 40min i am quite new to this but not thick.It sounds like this is a closed shop regarding anybody in helping me with my problem converting svcd to dvd.
can anybody pplease tell me the easiest and quickest way to convert these files.

Have you tried make DVD-SVCD?
