Thats a good question. The way I look at it is it probably can be done but the problem that I see is you firewire card is looked at as a capture card. In order to watch it full screen you would have to find a generic tv program that would use that as its source. I have never looked or even tried to find one but that might be a possible solution for you.

Ok what im saying is that you need to look for a tv viewing program that can use any tv card. if your lucky when it looks at your system it will see your firewire capture drivers and use that as a tv card. Its a long shot but im sure there is one out there. look at www.downloads.com and www.zdnet.com for tv applications.

    Thanks for you help,
I did look a bit more into it but i dont think that it can be done via firewire. I think that i would need a tv card with av inputs. This seems strange as wouldnt i be sending a digital signial through a analog device that would then convert it back to dv. I have looked all over the internet for some kind of way around this. All i can come up with is many tvcards/software that can do this and for firewire cards/software just capture and edit programs.
As i have only had one person reply to this post i am thinking that i must be a dummy and that there is a shit load of info right here in front of me.
Maybe i am barking up the wrong tree. but still i know that alot of people with so much knowledge of dv visit this site that someone knows why this cannot be done.
Please help as i cant belive that im the only person who would like to do this.
    Thanks :-0

  7. Hello All,

I may be wrong, but it sounds like the question is "how do I preview video full screen on my PC, from my DV camcorder?"

The answer is "SOFTWARE!" Most apps that people use to capture DV dont even allow you to preview full frame (720x480), let alone full screen. There are only a couple of apps I know that let you do this, one being Ulead's Media Studio Pro ($500)...No worries though, below are links to apps that ADS Tech offers for royalty free download.

CameraView is a new app that we (ADS) recently put together that allows for full frame as well as full screen preview from pretty much any video device. It is a nice simple app for previewing or capturing you video or even grabbing frames from your video.

WMCap is a simple app from MS which also allows for full screen preview...

    Hope this helps,
    ADS Ivan
