    Hi

Does anyone know if there is a way to connect a DVD player to a Portable TV??
The portable TV only has a co-ax connection.
My DVD player has s-video, scart and composite outputs.
Is there an adapter I can buy??
    I'm in the UK.

    Cheers

It has a co-axal connection on the back but I think it's for audio only.
It certainly isn't like the co-axal leads here in the UK its like a phono connection.

I know that in the states you can go to any major electronics store and get an adapter for about $20 to go from dvd component out to a coax input for tv....

  5. Can you not feed the DVD output through a video recorder then feed the video recorder's UHF output to your TV?

Any working video recorder should be able to do this.

I thought that too, when I got my first dvd player, and was unpleasantly surprised to find that my player was sending a macrovision signal to the vcr, so it wouldn't even show the default "dvd player is on" screen without being garbled.

If I had known about this site (to turn off the Macrovision) or known about the adapters, I wouldn't have spent $225 on a new tv a few days later....

  8. Sounds like you'll have to get an RF modulator then.
I've never bought one so i can't advise - but if the RF modulator isn't cheap then maybe a very cheap used VCR would be better?

I'm guessing the tv's not a new model then? I've got the same make in my kitchen and it has a scart next to the arial socket. I can only agree with the other members on this one but Maplin do an rf modulator for £29.99 on their website. Ebay uk has some too - a check this morning shows one currently at £8.03. You might even pick up an old vcr for less simply to pass the signal through to the tv.

    Good luck.
