  1. First and foremost, big thanks to all the authors for taking the time and efforts to put together such wonderful guides. Those guides gave me tremendous insight into the world of dvdr.

I use the DVD2One guide to back up my movies. I watched the back up, and the quality is great. Very excited. But I would like to compare the overall quality of my backup vs the original. What are the benchmark measurements that I should look at, and which tools to use. I appreciate your input very much.

not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but this is how I do it.

Tools - my tv, my dvd player, my original and my backup.

Measurement Instruments - my eyes and ears. And occasionally the eyes and ears of others.

Basically, if it works, if it looks & sounds good, it is good. I use DVD2One to back up dvd-9 to dvd-5, and I think the quality is fine - I don't notice blockiness unless I strain to look for it, so I'm fine with it.

If I noticed a lot of artifacts and blockiness, and it bothered me, I would find another method. I don't, so I don't.

If you like the quality, keep doing what you are doing. If you don't, try another method until you do.

  3. First of your copy will never be as good as the original, if the original disc is more than 4.29 Gb.

In the end if you are happy with the quality, then this is all it matters. There are no such benchmark, but individauls perceptions and comments. Try the copied discs with your friends using different method, see if the notice any difference.

DVD2One can't beat IC7 or DVD2DVD-R when the original disc is too big to fit on one DVD-R.

Experiment, you will strat to see the difference.

  4. use PowerDVD and take screenshot of different part of the movie (backup and orriginal)

Use a Photo software to have a closer look of both picture in the same time.. I mainly use IC7 with the new patch, and barly see a difference
