    Cheers, everyone.

I'd like to burn my DV movies onto DVD-R, with the option of making a few additional exact copies down the line, without having to re-build the menus, or re-author, or whatever, every time out. Plus, I'd like to free up space on my hard drive, so I prefer the direct disc-to-disc method. Basically, I'd like my computer system to be a modest DVD replicator without paying about $1000US for a stand-alone one-for-one DVD replicator.

I understand that DVDxCopy only allows for a single copy of a particular title to be made, regardless of whether or not the material is a commercial release or not. Do programs like Nero (which I've read about on many posts to this forum) allow for good quality direct disc-to-disc copies?

    Thanks, everyone.

P.S. Also, a special thanks to disturbed1, BJ_M, and necronomIV (and anyone else who has since replied) for your thoughtful (and very helpful) responses to my previous post: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=159184&highlight=

If you want to make a DVD-R as a 'SOURCE' disc then you can copy it using DVD DeCrypter. You have to copy the disc to the HDD first but then you can make as many copies from that 'IMAGE FILE' as you want. Then when you are done you can delete the 'IMAGE FILE' ... just make sure you always keep one copy on DVD-R as a source for future copies you may want to make.

DVD Decrypter works great like this in ISO mode. Just make sure the original is a single layer disc original or a DVD-R copy (all DVD-R and DVD+R discs are single layer).

    Thanks for the tip FulciLives.

By the way, I just happened to watch a Fulci movie last night, "Four Of The Apocalypse." It was an INSANE flick! The plot, what little their was, was was vaguely comprehensible. The characters were broadly drawn and inconsistent. The tone of the movie seemed to fluctuate with Fulci's every whim...Needless to say, I LOVED it! Typical surreal decadence from a genre master. The sum, as always, is greater than the parts.

If you liked "Four of the Apocalypse," try and check out Jodorowski's "El Topo" (in Spanish) or "Santa Sangre" (in English).

  4. I make a lot of D2D copies from DVD-RW to DVD-R using RecordNow DX. They're bit-for-bit copies, which makes them clones, I suppose. It's much faster than laying them down onto the HD first. It only takes about 25-30 minutes.

Funny you should mention that movie. Was just reading TODAY an old interview with Fulci and he said of the 3 or 4 westerns he made that FOUR OF THE APOCALYPSE was his favorite. It's one of his few films I haven't seen yet! I'll have to get the Anchor Bay DVD. Good news if you are a Jodorowsky fan ... a NTSC region 2 box set is due in July that will include EL TOPO, THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, SANGE SANGRE and FANDO Y LIS plus a bonus disc of extras. All will also be released seperately except FANDO Y LIS but no biggie as there is a NTSC USA release of that. Great news but I guess that makes my old Japanese LaserDiscs mostly useless now hehehe

    P.S.
I have the soundtrack to FOUR OF THE APOCALYPSE and it kicks ass! Can probably find it on AMAZON since they carry alot of import CD soundtracks (it is on an Italian label but I forget the name now).
