I was surfing the net and stumbbled on this Casio Thermal CD/DVD label printer and just wanted to know what you guys think about it and if any of you have it already because I was thinking about purchasing it. Its only $99, alot cheaper than all of the other CD/DVD label printers.

Don't think. Hurts. (I'm just goofy this morning, sorry.)

But seriously, it looks fine. I've used one before once, a demo at a convention, and it was okay. I didn't buy it. Take that however you want. I guess I wasn't impressed enough to buy it.

I have a $300 Epson CD/DVD printer, in fact I'll probably sell it soon because I just really don't care to bother with more than a felt-tip marker. I only used it twice too. Still new.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

The specs show that you can also print in silver, red,or blue. And as far a compatibility, it says that you will only have unsatisfactory results if you try to print on a inkjet printable disc.

It prints in a very limited area of 16mm x 74mm, 200 dpi @ 9mm/sec black, and 5mm/sec in other colors.

You can only print one area at a time. So if you want to print the title on the top of the disc, then something at the bottom, it would require two runs.

Not recomended to be used with anything but thermal printable blanks. Those are the all silver/no marking discs. Don't use it with inkjetprintable, these discs have a paper coating already on the disc, output is less than stellar. Can be used with branded discs (Verbatium, Pioneer etc.) but the printing is only successful in the unmarked areas.

Do a google search for Casio CW-50 for more info.

Theres a few threads post about this printer her, with some pictures of the output, https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=459702&highlight=heres+sample+own#459702 which prompted me to look into the Casio.

Printing just the title on the top, and a small logo on one side, I yeild 60 prints per $8 ribbon.

  8. Just picked up the Casio CW-50 yesterday.
Pros: (1)Printer has quick install (2) Easy to setup text/images (using silver top disc images have to be simple and found that with text & images use with white background and back for text & images (3) simple to print (4) produces sharp looking labels-leaps ahead of the ole sharpie.
Cons1) Cost of cartridge approx. $10 (2) After 19 DvD-rs (2 labels per disc)the first cartridge was spent(3) Again, cost of cartridge!
Has any one thought of how to refresh this image tape--it looks like the image tape that is used on some of the new plain paper faxes that use the rolls that are about 8 inches wide and roll out enough for approx 170 faxes. I will try to disassemble the old cartridge and see if this came be adapted from the fax image sheets-if possible 1 fax image tape roll (approx cost=$22)could refill the cw-50 cartridge at least about 20xs (black only) just thinking out loud-anyone try this?--
    -change is absolute-
