  1. I'm looking to get a new laptop PC in the near future, and have also been thinking about getting a PC that is capable of burning DVDs.

I've been looking around a little this morning, and it seems laptops with CD burners are fairly common, but I am not finding any with DVD burners. Does anyone know of any brands that offer a DVD burner with their laptop models?

  3. HP and Sony both have released Notebooks with DVD Burners.

Here is an article with the HP system. I do not have a Sony link.

  6. The Toshiba Laptop is only 1X DVD-R/RW! I would go for the Sony(2X +-R/RW) or HP(2X +R/RW). The HP is about $80.00 cheaper than the Toshiba. I don't know the pricing on the Sony but I imagine it is around $1800.00.

  7. Wow - thanks for all the replies everyone!

(I'm in USA by the way)

These notebooks seem to be a little pricey still, but I am sure the prices will drop over the coming months.

I bought a Panasonic free standing DMR-E30 last December for around $800, and I see it's almost half that price now. Not to mention the fact that the newer models have better features, of course!

  8. Here's a thought: get a good laptop, one with USB 2.0 and/or Firewire, and get yourself this DVD burner:

  9. get an external dvd witer best for laptop and pc use if u switch a lot. no need to transfer file to ur pc just burn it rite from ur laptop, if u have file on pc then u can plug that into the pc and burn anyway i think that an external write suit u best.

  10. also one more advantage u can bring the external dvd write to ur friend or cousin house and use their pc to make dvd backups (non copy protected dvd). in case they wont let u borrow their dvds : ). good luck
