Hi im encoding a lot of dvd's 2 Xvid but im asking myself this. Why is everything i make in xvid becomes only a videosampling of 12 bit when everything i download comes in videosampling 24 bit?? the reason why i ask is because i see a difference in quality
!! I use FlasKMPEG 7 for encoding. So I was thinking is there any way to make an Xvid in videosample 24 bit 8) ?? (There must be) and if how ?? maybe a different program or ??
or maybe I can convert my movies from 12 bit to 24 bit
??

Say what now? 12 bit sampling... where did you get that number from?
If you mean the video, last time i saw anything that used 12-bit colour was the old 1980s Amigas.. or perhaps the game gear. What's XviD doing to make you think it's using 12-bit?
If it's the sound thats equally odd, should be 16 bit all the way12 bit is a little noisy but not too bad, be amazed to find out how that works; 24 would be super sweet, and somewhat lucky.

12bit I believe has to do with number of colors available to display. If you upconvert to 24bit you won't gain any more colors. Also, are you sure it's 12 bit? Usually those numbers are a multiple of 8. 8bit has 256colors, 16bit I think has some thousands of colors, then there is 24bit and 32 bit, those are the most popular values. I've never seen 12bit.

Yeah, it sounds really odd.... 12 bit was the kind of colours you'd get out of HAM mode on an A500, or an STe, Genesis, Neo Geo etc.. 4096 of them to be precise.
All I can think of is either Johnny's accidentally taken his display down to 16bit in between downloading one film and encoding another, or is seeing the preview output in virtual dub (fixed to 16bit unless you change it..) and not liking the look of all those nasty bands like you get on playstation FMVs. Or just far too much compression making everything macroblock to buggery..-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
