I ripped my daughter's Cinderella DVD to the harddrive using default options in DVD Decrypter (main movie only, files highlighted during DVD Decrypter startup). As the result I got a directory VIDEO_TS on my HD with 4 VOB files and 1 IFO file (VTS_01_0.IFO) Before I burn it to a DVD-R disk, I wanted to make sure I've done everything correctly. So I tried to play the movie from my HD using PowerDVD. I selected "Open DVD File on Hard Disk Drive" and pointed to the ripped VTS_01_0.IFO file. PowerDVD palyed a few seconds of black screen and that is it. Why? Does it mean that if I burned the ripped VIDEO_TS directory to a DVD-R disk and then tried to play it on a standalone DVD player, the palyer would not have recognized the disk? What am I missing here? Did Decrypter selected the wrong IFO file? (Note when I tried to open the actual VOB file on my HD, the movie did start playing.)

its not as simple as that.
decrypter picks up the main film plus its ifo which is the information about that set of vobs.
is the whole disc smaller than 4.7gb ? if so do a iso read then iso write.
if not use ifoedit or dvdtoolbox to create new ifos which will give you the extra video_ts.ifo and .bups you need for it to play on your standalone.

use ifoedit and click create new ifos when this has finished close ifoedit then reopen it open the new video_ts file that was created and click get vts sectors keep clicking ok until its finished then click dvd play if all is well your dvd will play .... i dont advise you to try playing it with power dvd as power dvd will only play individual vob files and selecting the vts_01_1 or even video_ts files will not allow it to play i always use ifoedit to test play my dvd's and if they play ok in ifo edit they always play on my standalone after burning..,. i burn with record now max as nero caurses problems with compatability (this is apparently fixed in the latest version of nero but i havent try burning a dvd with it)
