You only need the 4-in-1 drivers if you're not on Windows XP. Also, make sure you have a VIA chipset before you try and use them... if you have a motherboard with a different chipset, you're screwed if you install these.

That doesn't look and sound like a VIA chipset. So no, you don't get those...
Your chipset is made by AMD themselves. The way to be absolutely sure is to go to the website of your motherboard, and if the company is any bit as reliable as EPoX is (my mobo's manufacturer), then they will have the specific VIA driver set for you right there. Now, if that is not a VIA chipset, as seems to be the case, that same site should have any drivers and stuff you need, because my brother's ALi MAGiK motherboard has a lame site, but it still has drivers for it for all OSes.

ok thanx for the advise... but now its back to the first question then...
Why is my dvd rip so slow 1.5x max... the DMA is on, I think.... becuz powerdvd set it... -
what RIPPER are you using and what speed of DVD-ROM, PROCESSOR, & HARDDRIVE (write speed) do you have??....those are the keys to speed.....I am using Smartripper with 12X, Tbird 800, & ATA66 (dont know the write speed offhand)..but best Ive ever gotten is 8X for about 10 mins, usually it averages around 3.5-4X per movie....I think the amount of encryption has a lot to do with it as well.

ok... my new system... a ASUS A7M 1.4 Athlon... 64 DDR Geforce... 256 DDR... 16X DVD...
my old ..p3 550... 256SDRAM... 16MB TNT ... 8x DVD...
And the old rips faster... please help... -
1) Make sure DMA is checked in _control panels_, also try turning on sync transfer
2) Put your DVD-ROM drive as master on the 2nd IDE chain
3) Make sure your DVD is cleanNo joke, it makes a big diference

yeah, graphics cards & RAM dont really matter all that much...what OS are you running...same OS on both??

Well, when I ripped in SmartRipper and didn't use FILE MODE, it ripped slower. But if I set it up to rip in FILE MODE and rip the whole DVD, it started off kinda slow (4x-6x), but after like 3 minutes it goes real sick and 12x. Takes about 9 minutes to rip a movie for me. My DVDROM is a Pioneer DVD-116. AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz, 1.5GB PC133 SDRAM, DVDROM is secondary master, DMA on.... ATA-100 hard disks.
