I see that this camera (hitachi DZMV380A) outputs video to my computer via USB 2.0, there is no firewire port included on the camera. My question is this: If I buy this do I NEED to upgrade to USB 2.0, or can I use my USB 1.0 connection due to the fact that USB 2.0 is backwards compatible?
Any info would be apprecieated.
thanks

I may be wrong, but I think USB2 ports accept USB1 and USB2 devices, but USB1 ports cannot accept USB2 devices (only USB1 devices).

If you have an available PCI slot, get the Adaptec DuoConnect. It has 3 USB 2.0 ports and 2 FireWire ports.
