Did anybody already compare quality of capturing with DV converter card (i.e. Canopus ADVC 100) and capturing thorough DV (D8 ) camcorder ?
Is quality of "passthorough" methode related to CCD chip resolution or all DV devices have the same or similar DV internall converter (means I can use my old 110e identically as the newest Sony D8 or pure DV camera for the analog->DV capturing?)
Regards

My experience is they are not the same.
I have a Sony TRV900 and a Cheapo Sharp. The Sony does not support passthru (without a hack), but I did some tests to tape.
The Sony wins hands down. The Sharp does not even really scale the image properly.
Also, there are a number of post complaining about audio sync using passthru. Seeing that DV standard does not lock the audio, I'm not shocked. The Pyro products seem to fix this. However, I did see some complaints about masive dropped frames on really bad (old) VHS captures.
