    Hi All !

Sorry if this is the wrong forum !

I've got a REC DVD3000 player which i've chipped so that it's region free.
What I'm trying to figure out is which recordable format it's compatible with. I want to buy a burner, but if it wont play the disk's its a bit pointless.

I've borrowed some burn't disks of a friend who's got a Pioneer A03 and it plays some of them but not all.....
some it completly ignores, others it'll play about 20 minutes of a film then the picture breaks up and the player stops, while some it plays fine.

So I'm not sure if it's due to the player not liking dvd-r's or something he's doing when he encodes movies.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a +r burner so I can't check them and trying to find any info, let alone a web address for REC is impossible !!

    Any comments ?!

    Cheers !

  2. Did you check the DVD player section on the left of the screen?

Yep, checked that, unfortunately it only lists the 850 and R800, not the model i've got.

You DVD manual might say if it plays DVD-R's, etc.

Also, I happen to have 2 DVD players that are the same make & model. One plays my DVD-R just fine. The other plays it until about 5 minutes before the end then stops.

It can also depend of the software used to burn discs...

Ex.: My Zenith dvd doesnt read dvd burned with RecordNow-Max but read very well those burned wih other software.

    Thanks for the replies,
I think what I need to do is borrow a selection of disks, different makes etc, find out what they were authored and burnt with and see which ones work.
Hopefully then I can work out if it's worth me buying a writer...... mind you I have a PS2 so i can also use that if it'll play dvd-r's ! 8)
