hi, i have a pinnacle dc 10 plus and one of my brought an old Sonybetamax recorders (the one that uses small tapes). and he told to convert the footage on that tape (with is Ntsc) . so i tried to record from the betamax i didn't work (that what i thought) . so coverted that beta tape into a vhs thinking it might slove the problem . now when iam trying to record from the vhs tape its capturing in black&white . if i change in capture settings from ntsc to pal i doesn't record any video, it just records the audio ... what can be the problem ?
Note: The tape which was converted into vhs is working on my tv with color not black&white ,but while capturing through dcplus it captures in black&white.

what are the A/V outputs on the Betamax?
if you are capturing, you definately want to go from that, not the VHS copy. -
Did you try daisy-chaining in the following order?
BetaVCR --> VHS VCR --> Capture Card
You said that VHS looked good, but when you tried to capture the VHS it didn't work, so try using the VHS VCR as a pass through. I haven't ever done this, but it might work.dj matty b -
Are you sure that your DC 10+ card is working correctly? Have you ever captured good quality video using the card?
Does the preview window show normal video in normal color? If so, the card is fine and should capture what you see in the preview window. -
hi, iam using composite only . well i well try the chain method and give it a try. The card is fine i captured from a vhs and it captured very clearly. In the preview window its showing black&white. when kept on ntsc but when i change it to pal the film stops in the preview window and i can only capture audio and no video . what can be the problem

Is the tape PAL? Is the tape commercial ( does it have macrovision on it? ). Is the tape SECAM? Was the tape recorded on a machine that's out of alignment?

By your message, I assume you are from Europe (which country?) and have PAL VHS and PAL TV. PAL 60?
If my assumptions are correct, you will need a NTSC to PAL converter. They sell individual units and VCRs that can convert to different TV formats.
This is a link that shows the same problem and possible solution:

Here is one converter for NTSC to PAL:

Multiconverters (NTSC to PAL and PAL to NTSC) are more expensive:

You can also find them on Ebay. -
