Since these DVDs contain multiple episodes per disc, what is advisable? Copying 1 episode/disc or doing all of them onto 1 DVD-R?

What have you guys found the best option?

    Thanks.

Depends on what quality you want.

For sopranos there are disks with 4 ep. and DVD2ONE, IC7 etc. do not do an adequate job in my opinion. For that I did the ep. separetely with CCE and then screen dump picture of ep. index of actual DVD and then put that in Spruce Up and put the ep. in there.

For ST-TNG I am putting 5 ep. per disc using CCE and quality is very comparable to DVD. The quality is not the best for that series so I can get away with it. For that I have made my own new menus.

For the Sopranos, rip each ep with DVDDecryptor. Then re-author 2 eps/ DVDR. No re-encoding 8)

You can usually get 2 'hour' shows per DVDR. The Sopranos run 55 minutes+, so they are the hardest. Other shows typically go 48 minutes,a nd some as little as 40 (prime time shows).

    Gazorgan,

That is another good method. I personally don't like it for 2 reasons.
You have to make new menus and it takes double the amount of disks and cases. But it is much much faster.

    Thanks for the replies!

    2 questions:

    1. How can you rip episodes separately in DVD Decryptor?

    2. For Band of Brothers, there are only 2 episodes/disc. What would be the quickest way to put two of them on the same dvd-r? Of course, i am looking to achieve the highest quality possible.

I don't care for menus or the extra stuff.

    1) not sure about DVD decreptor but Smartripper you just choose the correct PGC.

2)I am not sure what size ea. ep. is but chances are they are small.
I would use IFOedit to strip everything out except the title which contain the ep. If it can then fit on one DVD then burn if not use DVD2one or IC7 or whatever you want to resize.

  7. I've done the entire Sopranos series and seasons 2&3 came out really great with IC7. Season one looks down right shitty though, becuase of the grainy picture.

For the DVD Decryptor question, if you run the program in IFO mode, it should let you rip each episode by themselves. Although, I seem to have some problem with doing that. I only get VOB files, other people seem to get an M2V file and several AC3 files.

For Band Of Brothers, are the episodes two hours long apiece? I thought they were only 1 hour. If they are only 1 hour long, find out if it is a dual layer or single layer disk. I haven't tried it, but with only 2 episodes on the disks, I would think that it is a single layer disk. Maybe I'm wrong. If it is a single layer disk, you can copy all of the disk onto another using DVD Decryptor and some burning program, like Nero.

What kind of bonus features are on the disks? That might make it a little harder, but if you don't want anything like that, there is another option. Let me know.

Here is a link that describes how to get the individual stream files (M2V, AC3, etc):

  10. Thanks dvdrules.

I think that will help me with my problem, although I can't vouch for serpent, who started this thread.
