Whats the difference between the Cendyne/Pioneer A05 drive a regular Pioneer A05 drive? Is Cendyne brand just a different kind of brand with a pioneer A05 drive or what?/

    thanks

  2. Drive is exactly the same. The packaging is different and the stuff that comes with it is different.

  4. I buy all my stuff from videoguys.com because those guys know what their talking about. I asked them about the Cendyne and they told me the hardware (but not software) is the same as the AO5 but Cendyne will also be introducing other drives in the future as well. I bought the AO5 based on Pioneer's reputation and have seen the price drop to stay competetive. In fact, I just got an e-mail from videoguys.com that they are now selling the AO5 for $249. WOW!

Not to belabour a point, but how about the firmware? Can you use Pioneer A05 firmware upgrades on both the Cendyne and Pioneer 105?

  6. Yeah, you can use the pioneer firmwares. I just flashed my Cendyne 105 to the new 1.30 firmware. It's essentially a pioneer drive in severy sense of the word unless you need customer support. Then, from what I've heard, you're pretty much screwed.
