My first DVD player, an LG model, could play my DVD-5 backups fine, as well as my DVD-9 backups to two DVD+Rs. These were created with
    the technique at DVDr-DIGEST
    http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/articles.php?article_id=18.

I have just bought an Arianet 2233 which plays the single disc movies fine but refuses the split discs. It does not even reach the menu.

Are these discs non-standard. Is it normal that some players will not play them, though they manage fine with the single disc backups.

I have found the answer to this at
http://www.coujo.de/ Currently on the home page as "ImgTool burn" compatibility trick, posted 10.04.2003, 08:49 by CouJo.

Basically since I have Nero installed, ImgTool was making use of the Nero API to write the DVD+R. I needed to unset the option for ISO9660 to produce a DVD+R which was more compatible, and subsequently compatible with both my players.

By the way the players were Arianet DVD-2233 and LG DVD-3200E. The Arianet was the more 'fussy' player.
