If I have a new SATA hard drive (7200 rpms) is RAID really needed if I am only capturing Digital Video from my Sony camera. I seem to rememer someplace reading that 10MB sustained transfer is whats needed for digital video and I have to believe a ew SATA hard drive can do that easily solo.
Anyones help would be appreciated!

The latest 7200 (8 MB cache helps some, but not required) that are UDMA 100/133 or serial ATA should be fast enough. I regulary hit 7-8 MB/sec over my LAN, and well over double that on my capture drive, peaking almost 20 MB/sec drive to drive. I mention all this because you are coming in over firewire? and the quality of your firewaire card will have more to do with anything than than your harddisk (which sounds just fine).
