  1. I recently started having a strange problem. I just finished wiping my drive after some serious issues, but got everything back up and running. I started burning some DVDs with my trusty DRU500A (2.0e), with Gold Optodisc media from Supermedia at 2x. The burnt DVDs play fine on my PC, and I know they're regionfree copies... but when I insert the discs in my standalone (Sony NS315) it gives me the error "Cannot play this Disc."

I find it hard to believe that this would be a media problem, so I'm trying some +RWs that I know to have worked previously. My guess is that there's something amiss with the region settings... anyone got an idea?

  2. Oh, I'm also using Nero 5.5.10.20 with Win XP.

Are you using Nero Express or closing this and using Nero Burning Rom? And have you been sucessful in the past using the same setup you have now?

  4. I'm using Nero Burning Rom, and prior to re-installing XP on this machine, I had never had a problem with simply using the DVD-Video preset (outside the wizard). I'm thinking it's some obscure setting in Nero that got reset after I reinstalled, but I can't figure out what.

Update: Using identical settings to those I've always used, the DVD+RW (Memorex, on a duplicate of a previously working movie; again, what I've previously used) produced the same error in the standalone. I'm trying with UDF/ISO just for kicks...

  5. I installed the Adaptec ASPI layer, going to reboot after this burn to see if that helped...

  6. Well, that seemed to fix it. An interesting note; while the ASPI layer was absent, all the files added to the Nero compilation were de-capitalized (is that even a word? =). Just in case this helps anyone...
