Region free Sony DRU500A

My Sony DRU500A 1.0f firmware gives me an error when trying to play some DVDs loaded into it. How do I remove this error? Will an upgrade to a 2.0e or later firmware solve this problem? I am using PwereDVD to play the DVDs.

The newer firmwares from Sony have solved lots of problems. They are currently at version 2.0f. The error you are experiencing may be due to several things. The DVD may be bad or PowerDVD may need to be updated. Just some thing to consider.

Hi. I've been looking all over for the newest firmware formy DRU500A. Up until now, I've had quite a bit of success with my driver, with the exception of a few hiccups here and there, kind of a long list to mention, but for me they were okay to overlook.

Now my driver is not responding to any type of DVD media that I put into it, including Sony media. It will recognize normal CD-ROM media, but not DVD. I'm hoping some new firmware, which I have never installed any since getting this driver back last October, so I'm probably due.

But I can't find out where to download from the Sony site. Can someone help me? Thanks!

Thanks a million, my friend! While this wasn't exactly what I needed, there was another link on the page that led me to the firmware update that I wanted from Sony.
