  1. OK.. I admit.. I'm a newbie. I have two Sony DVD players that are able to playback VCD and XVCD. I can create VCD using Smartripper to rip and FlaskMpeg to encode. I would like to try XVCD to see if the quality is better but I need some solid guidance.

Can anyone give me some decent pointers (software to use, how to use it and the settings to use) to get an XVCD authored?

    Thanks,
    CRimmel

  2. Read http://www.vcdhelp.com/mpeg2tovcd.htm. Then increase the bitrate to make it XVCD. I'd recommend at least 1450kbps.

If you like to encode at higher bitrates (1800-2500), try a higher resolution as well. 352x576/480 or 480x576/480.

If you are planning on making (x)vcd's from DVD rip's then i must assume you are not needing the little extras SVCD offers : multi audiostreams or subtitles.

In that case here is my 2 cents.
