well, surely the fact that most people prefer the canopus, and have problems with the dazzle, is tantamount to the fact that the dazzle isn't very good?
there's only about a $50 difference between the two. go for the canopus and save yourself the trouble.

I have the Dazzle Hollywood, have never used the Canopus. I do like it, the only realy problems I have is with copy protection, older worn tapes (especially when the VCRs try to AutoTrack).
Many of the problems were caused by a faulty power supply or outside issues. But some problems are legit and Dazzle takes their sweet time in fixing them or outright ignoring them.
But since I never hear about complaints with the ADVC-100 and it is $50 more, if I needed to replace my Hollywood, I would go with the ADVC-100 way.Cendyne/Pioneer 105 & 104 with a Dazzle* Hollywood DV-Bridge. -
I also have The Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge. I have had it awhile now and find I still need to cycle it off-on to get my system to re-recognize it. I leave it on 24x7 and probably need to recycle it once every day or so. I occasionally lose the device connection in the middle of a capture, but usually can get several hours of capture w/o a problem. I really like its conversion from analog to DV.
Given the low level of problems reported with the Canopus unit, I would probably buy Canopus if I had it to do over again. -
I justed purchased the ADVC 100 and just love it. I was using a 8500 ati card and was dropping frames all the time when I tried to get a good avi cap. Since I got this I think I have only lost 1 frame out of many 2 to 2 1/2 hr capture from VHS and the quality is very good. I also have no trouble with video audio sync as many capture devices do.
My take :0 -
I have the ADVC-100 and have not had any problems whatsoever. I did have a little hang-up with animation, but that was my because of my noobieness and nothing to do with the unit.
Zero dropped frames in about 20 hours of captured video. No problems getting it to work. What more could you ask for? -

The figures speak for themselves. Get a Canopus.

I haven't tried it myself but I hear a simple press and hold of the input selection button will bypass macrovision copy protection on the ADVC-100 too.
Overall it is the one I rate as best, I tried ATI All-In-Wonder, Pinnacle, ADS, & other capture cards and the Canopus is the most reliable in ease of use, best results... Not the cheapest unless you value your time too.

I'm going to stick by my ADVC-100 as well.
I bought it of course after reading the wonderful thumbs up posts it received here in the forums...
took the leap, charged the credit card, and will never regret my choice!

First , Thank you all for the reply and commants its really helpfull
well , its a fact then that ADVC-100 is a good option
i do have one more commant that the price diffrent is not only 50$
"i hope so"
BUT in France where i am living
price of Dazzle = 249.00 Euro
price of ADVC-100 = 420.00 Euro
So at least there is 170.00 Euro
i wish some one can guide me with other good price
Finally whats i want to say here that with this big diffrent in price the ADVC-100 should come before the Dazzle -
Try and order it from a UK supplier.
http://www.refreshcomputers.com/acatalog/Main_Digital_Video_Converters_44.html
£269 = E386
or get the ADVC-50, the internal version for £175 = E251

Hi,
There is still another problem, if you order anything from outside France you'll still have to pay the tax, which means it goes back to the original price if not more..
I am looking for a good store inside France or another possible way
Thanks for the advice
