  1. hi please can someone help me i have a .avi fle that i have downloaded and i would like to burn it to one dvdr howver mpge tells me the file is to big is there anything i can do. the .avi file is 667mb and it is about 2hrs 18mins long.

  2. You should be able to adjust the percentage near the bottom, just set it for 99% and ignore any error messages (as long as the size you have set for is under 4.5GB

  3. I'm confused about what you're trying to do. I assume that you want to convert the d/load avi (DivX/Xvid) MPEG2 file and then author that to a DVDR.

    If this is the case we'll need to know what programs you are using to convert the avi to MPEG2 and what settings (bitrates) you are using. I suspect that whatever program you are using to convert has a wizard with a default bitrate that would encode a 2:18 movie to > 4.7GB

  4. An AVI , 667MB in size and 2+ hours long sound like Divx file.
    This AVI appears to have low resolution (??? pls check).
    Converting that to DVD is always possible but will only highlight quality issue.
    You can use TMPGEnc to encode with a low bit rate (3000 kbits/sec), it may fit. If not just go ahead author the MPEG-2 file into VIDEO_TS, then use DVDShrink to make it fit.
