    ive got an NEC1000Awriter and its ok with + discs but ive been reading through many dvd forums and apparantly the hp 300i is the same model now the hp is supposed to support + -disc can anybody confirm this so i can try to update my nec with hp tackle, thus giving me +_ capability thanks chaps by the way im new to this but this forum is great got me hooked proper

    NEC ND-1000A: 2.4x/2.4x DVD+R/RW
    HP dvd300i (based on NEC ND-1100A): 4x/2.4x DVD+R/RW

    Neither of them will burn DVD-R/RW and you can't flash your ND-1000 with the HP firmware.

    maybe nec will offer firmware in the future to upgrade originally these drives were supposed to be +_

    You're confusing this with the ND1300 (dual format drive), which was originally called ND1100.
