  1. I have an avi of an half hour tv show i captured. I wanted to edit out the commercials with virtual dub. I moved to the start of my selection, and pressed the keyframe back button once, and then went to the and and pressed keyframe forward once, and the deleted that. I did this process for all 4 commercial breaks. The i wanted to save it. This is where i kind of ran into trouble. I was unsure of what to save it as. The video that i was editing was 720 * 480, 29.97 fps, and i captured it using the huffyuv codec. I was wondering which save option i had to select to maintain this quality. There is a "save old format avi" option as well as a "save as avi" option. THere is also save striped, and save segmented avi. Which should i choose and is there anything special i should do to maintain the same quality as the file had before i deleted the commercials??

    Thanks in advance,

If you want to save it exactly as the source file then under both audio and video select Direct Stream Copy, then save avi to finish. The saved file will be exactly the same as the source without the deleted parts. 8)

  5. ok this might be the dumbest question ever, but when i'm savig the file as an avi it pops up a box to tell me the progress & stuff. It says "video rendering rate" and that rate is anywhere from 13.0 to 22.0 fps. I was wondering if this was saving it as this?? Because i still want to have my 29.97 fps that i captured in the beginning, not 13 or 22 fps. Or is video rendering rate something else??

  6. The number you are seeing is the number of frames being processed at a time. The finished avi will be in the framerate you specify, 29.97 should be the default.
