  1. Hi,

Can someone help? I absolutely love DVD Shrink, but I have noticed that it does not create an AUDIO_TS folder that some DVD players and drives need in order to recognize DVD-R discs.

I burn my DVD files with RecordNow. I've tried NERO and Instant Copy, but they create coasters for me. RecordNow works perfectly with my environment. Is there a way I can:

    1. either force DVD Shrink to create an AUDIO_TS folder
    OR
    2. manually create a AUDIO_TS folder along with the VIDEO_TS folder DVD Shrink creates and burn BOTH these folders with recordnow?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  2. I don't know anything about recordmaxnow, but I know that nero express, when you use the DVD mode, automatically creates an AUDIO_TS folder for you when it's burning the disk. Have you checked something you've burned with recordmaxnow to see if it also automatically creates the folder?

  3. if you use record now just make a audio folder yourself just make sure everything is in caps like this AUDIO_TS.

  4. You don't actually need an AUDIO_TS folder on the disc, it's for the not yet released (i think) AudioDVD standard. Most players will play fine without it, but there will always be one player (usually your player) that will require it.

I have some commercial DVD's without an AUDIO_TS folder.

  5. 1) Right-click in the folder/window where your VIDEO_TS folder is

    2) Select New -> Folder

    3) Change name of folder to "AUDIO_TS" (All caps)

EX: I just backed up my brand new copy of the Wilco documentary "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" (yes - BACKED UP -- I just got it in the mail from Amazon!) using DVD Shrink and saved all files in Wilco -> VIDEO_TS. I then went into the "Wilco" folder and created the AUDIO_TS folder and burned w/ Record Now. Watched it and it looks great (the subtitles have disappeared, but that's for a different thread)

BTW -- I always create an AUDIO_TS folder just b/c it's easy and takes up no space and that's how older DVDs were set up, so let's just go w/ the voodoo and stick w/ tradition.

At least 50% of the retail DVD's I've looked at don't bother with an AUDIO_TS diectory. Don't you think if thay were required that all retail disks would have them.

I never disagreed with that point. As I said, "go w/ the VOODOO."

Some posters on this board have claimed that the AUDIO_TS does make a difference on some older standalones. You most likely don't need it for most players, but it's such a simple thing to do that maybe it's worth the effort just to be sure...

Besides, the OP asked HOW to make an AUDIO_TS folder, not "DO I NEED TO make an AUDIO_TS folder." So go find a thread that begs the answer you're trying to give and we can all argue it over there.

  8. Thank you all for your great suggestions.

I'm presently tyring again with a manually created audio_ts folder. We'll see if it makes a difference. But, I'm thinking why not just to be safe...can't hurt, since I'm not so sure either it makes a difference.

Good to know about NERO Express making this folder automatically.

    Thanks again!
