Do all TVs accept Progresive Scan signal?

Hi,

I have a DVD player with Progresive Scan but when I connect the prgresive output of the DVD player to the TV's input, I do not get any picture on the TV screen (My TV is a 4:3 TV with no Progresive input). I know that my TV does not support the Progresive scan and the picture would not get improved, but is it normal that it does not show any thing at all? Is it not supposed to show at least in interlaced mode? I am just trying to figure out if something is wrong with my DVD player (The Interlace output of the DVD Player works just fine). Thanks for any inputs

u've answered your own question. the progressive output won't work on an interlaced tv.
