  1. Is it possible to extract just the movie (no menus, extra features) and 1 audio track (i.e. english) and then combine that with a second movie extracted the same way onto a a single DVD playable in consumer DVD players?

I am guessing that you use DVD Decrypter to extract, but what do you use to build the new DVD with basic menus (i.e. Click here to play Movie XYZ).

How do you know what content is the extra crap so you can remove it?

    Thanks...

  2. You can do this if you extract the elemetary streams from the movie (audio and video) then use DVD Maestro or DVD-lab to author.

I guess your final product will be over 4.7GB so you will need to use one of the DVD compression tools (DVD2one, DVDShrink, etc.) to make it fit.

  3. Does DVD Maestro or DVD-Lab take VOB files as inputs or do I extract to AVI?

I was hoping that once I took out all the extra crap, I could fit at least 2 movies on a single DVD uncompressed, but if the chance of two movies fitting on a single disc is very low then it might be easier just to do a disc to disc copy for each movie to one DVD-R disc.

  4. Both need the files as elementary streams, one file for video (normaly .m2v) and one for audio (.m2a). I guess you can use Smartripper to do this and maybe other software too.

I have never seen a movie less than 3GB so 2 movies will be 6GB and you can only fit 4.7GB in one DVD.

  5. You can put 2 films on one DVD, BUT try to choose short films with lowish bitrates. I put 2 john carpenter films together and it looks good, however you are going to lose a bit of quality. Rip both films, to two folders, using DVD decrypter, compress both movies down using DVDshrink or DVD2one (set the size to about 2.1 GB). Get rid of everything in the folders apart from your VOBs. Next rename your second set of VOB files to follow your first set (if you have VTS_1_1 to VTS_1_5, rename your second set VTS_1_6 to whatever you need). Once you have all the VOBs named stick them all into one folder. Fire up IFOEDIT and write a new .IFO for your VOB set. Even if the films have different aspect ratios the picture will switch between them. If you really want something to do try to figure out how to put a menu structure on it.
